Network Policy

Network Management Practices

Blocking

  • Lee Wireless does not block or otherwise prevent end user access to lawful content, applications, service, or non-harmful devices.

Throttling

  • Lee Wireless does not throttle, degrade, or impair access to lawful Internet traffic on the basis of content, application, service, user, or use of a non-harmful device.

Affiliated Prioritization

  • Lee Wireless does not directly or indirectly favor certain traffic over other traffic, including the use of techniques such as traffic shaping, prioritization, or resource reservation, to benefit an affiliate, including identification of the affiliate.

Paid Prioritization

  • Lee Wireless does not directly or indirectly favor certain traffic over other traffic, including through the use of techniques such as traffic shaping, prioritization, or resource reservation, in exchange for consideration, monetary, or otherwise.

Congestion Management

  • Lee Wireless utilizes Smart Queue Management (SQM) for the purpose of enforcing end user speed tiers and to prevent poor QOS during peak usage times.  SQM is far superior to other congestion management techniques due to its capability to reduce or eliminate packet drops and reduce latency associated with a congested network (bufferbloat).  Lee Wireless uses the FQ_Codel SQM strategy on a network-wide and per end user basis.
  • Lee Wireless does implement SQM prioritization of VoIP and related activities for the purpose of reducing end user latency.
  • Aggregate end user data usage is not a criteria for SQM.

Application-Specific Behavior

  • Lee Wireless blocks all invalid inbound access.

Device Attachment Rules

  • Lee Wireless has no restrictions on the types of devices that can be connected to the end user Home Router.
  • There are no restrictions on the types of devices that can be connected to the network at the demarcation point.
  • If an end user changes the device attached at the demarcation point (Wifi Router, Router, PC, etc…), the end user must notify Lee Wireless of the MAC Address of the device; otherwise, an Internet connection cannot be established.
  • Lee Wireless prohibits end users from introducing a rogue DHCP Server back into our network.

Security

  • End users are responsible for their home network.  End users are responsible for installing and maintaining their own anti-malware software and/or firewalls.  Lee Wireless is not responsible for any harm that results from the poor networking practices of end users.
